I started photographing my own kids on the back porch because nobody else was around to do it. Now I do it for about two hundred families a year, and I still think the back porch is underrated.

The studio
Jess Marlow Photo is family, newborn and senior photography in Oakwood and around Dayton. I have lived here for eleven years and I know where the light is at five o'clock in October and where the shade is in July. Most sessions happen at one of six places I love, or at your own house, which is often the best place of all. I keep sessions short and loose: we walk, the kids run, somebody gets picked up and spun around, and I stay out of the way. You get a ten minute planning call before, a guide in your email, a text the day before, and your gallery within two weeks. A fifty dollar deposit holds your date.
